Chateau Fines Roches Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2015 (RP: 92)

FRR1501

(Tasted on June, 2023)

(Robert Parker's rating: 92 points)
Château des Fines Roches 2015

The Chateau is a very impressive building, but it was not a winery until an entrepeneur Louis Mousset purchased it in the 1930ties. His daughter Catherine inherited vineyards around Chateau Fines Roches. She married Robert Barrot, and found a family and a brand: Vignobles Mousset-Barrot. Now they run the firm with the help of two daughters, Gaëlle (in charge of vineyards) and Amélie (office and promotion), who are passionate for the terror and vinification.
The vineyards of Chateau Fines Roches cover 53 ha of Chateauneuf du Pape of which 48 ha are with red varieties, 5 ha are whites. Today, Vignobles Mousset Barrot consists of three properties. Besides Fine Roches, there are Chateau du Bois de la Garde (63 hectares) and Chateau Jas de Bressy (4.5 hectares, purchased in 2003).

Tasting Notes :
(Robert Parker's rating: 92 points)
The Château des Fines Roches 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape boasts a flamboyant, intoxicating nose of ripe cherries and stone fruit. It turns the fancy trick of being medium to full-bodied, lush and creamy without being warm or heavy. With its supple, fruit-driven finish, it's drinking well already and should continue to do so for at least another decade.
