Vieux Chateau Mazerat is named after the Mazerat sector in St. Emilion where the vines are located. Owned by Jonathan Maltus, and located not too far from Chateau Angelus, this property is also the source used for the Bordeaux wine produced at Chateau Le Dome. Maltus made his first purchase in the Mazerat sector in 1996. He obtained the rest of the vineyard which is used for the production of Vieux Château Mazerat in 2008.

Vinification:
Vinification takes place in temperature controlled wood vats. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrel and the wine is aged in an average of 80% new, French oak barrels.
Tasting Notes:
The 2008 offers sweet black cherry, black currant, licorice and graphite characteristics in a layered, deep wine. Building incrementally on the palate, it exhibits impressive purity, richness and length. Acids are there, but the wine is forward, supple and ideal for drinking now and over the next 10-12 years.
