Premius is the prestige range of Yvon Mau, one of the leading players in Bordeaux, which has acquired unique expertise in making Bordeaux wines since its inception in 1897. Yvon Mau became a subsidiary of the Spanish Freixenet group since 2001, the company is now part of the German Henkell Freixenet group, the world leader in sparkling wines.

Over the years, they have built close relationships with a large number of growers in Bordeaux. In addition to the respect of environment and the crafting techniques, Premius has inherited the full elegance of Bordeaux and carefully blended in line with specifications.  Although there is no chateau or big family story to tell, Premius is a real Bordeaux which is uncomplicated, friendly and accessible.

Vinification:
The grapes are harvested when perfectly ripe, destemmed and then gently crushed. Maceration lasts two to three weeks, and is carried out in different vats at controlled temperatures tailored to the particular grape variety. It is then matured in vats for 6 to 12 months.

An earthy, easygoing red with aromas of blackberries, iodine and dried herbs. It’s medium-bodied with medium tannins and a slightly grainy finish.

Pairing:
This wine makes a perfect aperitif or goes beautifully with red meat dishes in sauce or spicy, but also your chocolate desserts.
