Organic Wine│

Maison Gustave Lorentz was founded by the Lorentz family in 1836. It owns 33 hectares of land on the hillsides of the medieval town Bergheim in the heart of the Alsace wine region. Their vision is focused and lodged in the DNA: to produce quality wines from the best slopes in Bergheim. 12.8 hectares of which are classified Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergheim, 1.75 hectares Grand Cru Kanzlerberg and other lieu-dits.

The vineyard at the Grand Cru Altenberg, a clay-limestone terroir, enjoys a warm and temperate microclimate due to its south-facing exposure and the steeply slope at an altitude of 220-320 metres.  The wines are complex with a full-body and great concentration, set off by crisp, delicate aromatics.

Today, Georges Lorentz has managed the estate, seven generations later. Georges, conscious of the current and future environmental challenges, decided to convert to organic growing in 2009. All of the wines from their own vineyards have been certified organic since the 2012 vintage.

Tasting Notes:
(James Suckling's rating: 94 points)
At once remarkably fresh and deep, this is a very impressive dry riesling that lives up to the Grand Cru designation. Ample body, but even more concentration, the textural complexity as impressive as the Amalfi-lemon, tarragon and sage aromas. Long and seriously structured finish. Excellent aging potential!
