Louis Roederer成立於1776年,其旗艦作Cristal絕對是世上最好的香檳之一1876 年,沙皇亞歷山大二世要求酒廠,每年為他保留酒莊最好的佳釀,為此Louis Roederer特地選用平底透明水晶瓶。

Cristal在最好的年份生產,Chardonnay (約40%) 與 Pinot Noir (約60%)達至完美的成熟。香檳在酒窖中陳年6年,除渣後再陳年8個月。質感絲滑,礦物感鮮明,帶有白色水果和柑橘的味道,可以保存二十多年而不會失去新鮮度和特色。

2013年的Cristal結合了2008年涼爽的復古風格,以及2012年更完熟的果味,可說代表了兩者的完美結合。由清脆的果園水果、白花、杏仁醬和柑橘油的香氣揭開序幕,隨後是中度至飽滿、無縫而多元的口感。濃郁但輕盈,帶有活潑的酸度、細膩如慕斯的悠長餘韻。嘗2008年的Cristal時,已不太可能有甚麼抱怨;但品嘗2013年的Cristal後,就會發現葡萄園的巨大進步。


Established in 1776, Louis Roederer is a famed Champagne house and its flagship wine: Cristal is absolute one of the finest. In 1876, Tsar Alexander II asked Louis Roederer to reserve the House’s best cuvée for him every year. To distinguish this cuvée, this exceptional champagne came in a flat-bottomed, transparent lead-crystal bottle.

Cristal produced uniquely during the best years, when the Chardonnay (around 40%) and Pinot Noir (around 60%) grapes have attained perfect maturity. The Champagne is aged for 6 years in Louis Roederer’s cellars and left for a further 8 months after dégorgement.  It has a silky texture and fruity aromas, complemented by a powerful mineral quality with white fruit and citrus notes which can be conserved for over twenty years without losing its freshness and character.

Combining the cool-vintage cut of 2008 with the more completely mature fruit of 2012, the 2013 Cristal might well be said to represent the perfect combination of the two from a purist's perspective. The wine unwinds in the glass with notes of crisp orchard fruit, white flowers, almond paste and citrus oil, followed by a medium to full-bodied, seamless and multidimensional palate that's intense but weightless, with racy acids, a pinpoint mousse and a long, penetrating finish. Drink the 2008 Cristal on its own, and you're unlikely—to put it mildly—to have any complaints; but compare it directly with the 2013 and you'll see Roederer's rapid progress in the vineyards writ large.
