Château Pontet-Canet is located in the heart of the Pauillac appellation, just south of châteaux Mouton Rothschild and d'Armailhac. The estate features the typical poor, gravelly soil that characterizes the finest vineyards.
Covering 81 hectares, the vineyard has practiced organic and biodynamic approach, which better respect nature. In return, the wines have gained greater depth while producing more precise and silky tannins. The length of flavour on the palate has also enhanced its minerality.
Pontet-Canet has always been a legendary Médoc. This wine masterfully blends power and elegance, offering concentration and fullness on the palate. Pontet-Canet is a classic wine, featuring a tannic structure that ensures excellent aging potential.

Pontet-Canet 2000 has a lovely bouquet of blackberry and briary fruit, hints of black truffle developing, later damp earth... The palate is medium-bodied with a mixture of red and black fruit, cedar and sous-bois percolating up through and rendering it a "serious" Pontet-Canet in keeping with the vintage. There is a subtle and yet insistent grip on the finish.

Extremely rich and decadent with leaf, meat and spice aromas. Ripe fruit too. Lots of toasted wood. Full and mature now. Lovely to drink now. Gorgeous.
